When Jilly’s baby sister is born Deaf, Jilly soon realizes that she needs to learn ASL if she wants to communicate with her sister when she grows up. Jilly’s friend from online happens to be Deaf as well, and as they get to know each other, Jilly also learns about the Deaf community in her hometown.
According to Goodreads, I’ve officially read the most I have since signing up for the site: 90! I was really gunning for 100 last year, but there’s always this one! It might be harder, because I’m going to finish high school and enter college (wtf!) by the end of the year.
So, here are some of the best books that I’ve read over the course of 2017. That doesn’t mean that they’ve all been published this year, just ones that I’ve read!
George wants to play Charlotte in the class play of Charlotte’s Web. But George’s teacher refuses to let her audition for the part, because she thinks George is a boy, just like everyone else, when George knows she’s a girl.
Why this book?: I’ve heard a lot about it, and my AP Lit teacher let me borrow her copy when I brought it up during a meeting!
