April & May Wrap-Up

Stay in and (4)

In my monthly wrap-ups, you can get a quick recap of what I’ve read and currently reading, all the posts that have been published on this blog with dates and links, as well as a personal update at the very bottom! You’ll get the previous month wrap-up as the first post of every month.

Books I’ve Read & Currently Reading:

So, it’s been a while. Since my last wrap-up post, I haven’t been able to read that much. I’ll update y’all about that at the end of this post, but before we get to that:

Before school crushed down on my reading time, I got the opportunity to read Wilder Girls by Rory Power early. I also had to read The Turn of the Screw for an essay. I had to read it so many times, but I only read it completely through once. Then, as a last, desperate attempt to continue reading before finals, I dove into Wrapped Up in You by Ceillie Simkiss.

Not Your Backup (Sidekick Squad, #3)Then finals happened.

I ended up taking my entire bookshelf home early because there was literally no point to it being there. I couldn’t read, so I just surrendered and dove into finals.

Since I’ve moved out of college and gotten home, I’ve only read two books: Kings, Queens, and In-Betweens by Tanya Boteju, which was really good, and Not Your Backup by CB Lee for a blog tour post.

Personal Updates:

So, like I had mentioned before, school really cracked down in the middle of April. I barely had the time to sleep, let alone read and write blog posts. The week before finals, I was staying up to 2am, 3am, pretty much every day, and I was running on fumes for a large portion of May. In addition to that, I was struggling with a few relationships that I had formed in college. Some turned out to be toxic and harmful, and I had to work to cut out these people while still focusing on my schoolwork.

While I didn’t do as good as my first semester (still don’t know how I managed a 4.0 my first semester), I still got through this semester with three A’s and two A-‘s. I was on the edge for quite a few classes, so I’m glad that I scrapped through with three A’s. As for the relationships, I think time away might fix one, while some others are not worth the trouble.

Even though I’m resting up and catching up on sleep back home, I’ve been working on getting a job and will be starting hopefully by the time this post is up. I’ll be working 8 hour shifts for 3-4 days every week, but hopefully it won’t cut too much into my reading and blogging time.

One last thing. Apparently, around this time last year I was also crushed with schoolwork, because I already had a graphic covering “April & May Wrap-Up” rather than two separate graphics for each month. I have a feeling this might happen again next year, just with the timing and how things seem to work out with blogging and my school schedule.

    • Thank you!! I just started my job today, and I have to admit that it’s so much nicer being there (the magic of a structured schedule) then at home. I did get plenty of rest though! I hope you have a great June as well!!
