When I first started up this blog, I was a stickler for completing my ARCs and posting the reviews two weeks before the release date. Three? years later, that’s not the case.
Because of this, I looked around and found Avalinah’s State of the ARC meme, and decided to join in to at least get this pile under control.
I will attempt to post one of these once a month.
My Current State of the ARC
You may have noticed that I haven’t posted one of these in a while! That’s because I needed to get my shit together with my ARCs. I’ve kept my requests closed for a while now in order to get caught up on the ARCs I have accepted, and it’s been going fairly well, surprisingly. I also realized that the way I was keeping track of my ARCs was really confusing, so I decided to revamp my graphs into something less complicated for my math-hating mind.
So, this is still a little overwhelming for me, but I think I can handle this. I’m going to say this here so people can hold me accountable, but my priority are the author/pub provided ARCs. Those were personal agreements and I failed to hold up my end. I still plan to read and review, they’re just going to be much later than I had agreed. Second after those come the Bookish First books, mainly because those are actually physical ARCs and might not be out yet. Then comes Edelwiess and NetGalley, placed on the backburner because I can.
I also wanted to mention the fact that I kept the “completed” category in there, just because I wanted to have that color grow as this project continues. Hopefully by the end, it will mostly be yellow.
Bricks Knocked Down
So since the last post, I believe that I’ve read more than a few ARCs, which I’m pretty proud of. I read six ARCs, some of them being older and some of them being newer and not recorded in the earlier posts, but I’m still pretty proud of reading those. Of the six, I read Help Wanted by J Emery, I finally reviewed Ruin of Stars by Linsey Miller, and then I finally went on to read You Don’t Know Everything, Jilly P! by Alex Gino, The Darkdeep by Ally Condie and Brendan Reichs, The Case of the Zodiac Killer by Michael Ferguson and Michael Morford, and, finally, The Owls Have Come to Take Us Away by Ronald L Smith.
I enjoyed half of these books, but the other half were only meh?? Either way, I’m so happy that I got these knocked down, and started working on my pile of ARCs more.
In the Works
Currently, I’ve been trying to read Some Girls Bind by Rory James, but there was a mix-up with the ARC and I’m going to have to get a new file from the publisher. I’m also reading The Case of the Golden State Killer which was written by the same people as The Case of the Zodiac Killer.
Let’s Get Motivated
Two of these, Illusions and Bi-Gender are both books from my author/pub pile. Salt by Hannah Moskowitz recently came out and I realized that I had had an ARC of it that I never finished. I’m really excited to dive into all of these.
I do also want to point out that, considering I never read the books in this category in previous posts, the books above are my goal for this month. By next post, its my goal to have AT LEAST these three books finished.
