I haven’t done a book tag in a while, and needing some content, I decided that I would look around for another one.
I couldn’t find who created this one, nor could I find any rules or instructions for it either. If y’all know who created it, please let me know in the comments.
Recently Watched – The Last Book You Finished Reading
The last book I finished reading was technically That’s Not What Happened by Kody Keplinger. Unfortunately, that one was a DNF, so the last book that I read through completely was Gender Failure by Rae Spoon and Ivan E. Coyote.
Top Picks – A Book Recommended to You Based Off Another Book You Read
This one is pretty hard for me, mainly because I’m a mood reader and generally pick my books randomly. One that does come to mind, though, is that I accepted an ARC of Diane Magras’s debut, The Mad Wolf’s Daughter because it was described as “for fans of John Flanagan’s Ranger’s Apprentice series”. Ranger’s Apprentice used to be one of my favorite series, one of the few that got me into reading originally. I don’t know if this one actually counts, but it is similar–I read The Mad Wolf’s Daughter because it was recommended based on another book that I had loved.
Recently Added – The Book You Most Recently Bought
I most recently bought three books and got two ARCs with the purchase of those three. These books were Helter Skelter by Vincent Bugliosi, Ancillary Justice by Ann Leckie, and The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson. The ARCs I got with the purchase of these books were That’s Not What Happened by Kody Keplinger and When I Am Through with You by Stephanie Kuehn.
Popular on Netflix – One Book You’ve Read & One Book You Haven’t Read that Everyone Talks About
Book I have read: The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid. Literally everyone I follow on Twitter loves this book, but it was meh for me.
Book I haven’t read: Six of Crows by Leigh Bardugo. I didn’t enjoy Bardugo’s Shadow and Bone, so when everyone started yelling about this one, I didn’t bother.
Comedies – Name a Funny Book
The Rules and Regulations for Mediating Myths and Magic by F.T. Lukens!! One of the funniest books I’d ever read. It follows a character who gets thrown into a magical world because he needed a job, and he ends up getting a bit more than just a new boss and coworkers. Its a really funny and creative read, and I wish more people would read it so I could talk about it.
Dramas – Name a Character Who is Drama Royalty
(This question was originally Name a Character Who is Drama King/Queen but I ain’t dealing with non-gender neutral language so fuck that.)
The only character I could think of was Kitty from To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han, but she’s a child, so I don’t know if she can really count…
Cartoons – Name a Book with Cartoons on the Cover
I mean, I don’t know if illustrations that look like cartoons count, but You Don’t Know Everything, Jilly P! by Alex Gino come to mind. The illustrations look fairly cartoonish, so I feel as if this one would fit.
Watch Again – A Book or Series You Really Want to Reread
The Expanse series! More books keep coming out but it’s been a while since I’ve read one, so I really need to reread them before diving into the most recent ones. They’re fairly long science fiction books, but they’re so good as far as I can remember, so I’ve been really wanting to start a reread. I did start a reread, but only got through the first one, so I might have to reread that one as well.
Documentaries – A Non-Fiction You’d Recommend to Everyone
I recently read and loved Gender Failure by Ivan E. Coyote and Rae Spoon. It discusses Ivan and Rae’s experience with their journey through gender and gender questioning. I loved and related the stories that Ivan and Rae both wrote down for this book, and want all of my friends to read it.
Action/Adventure – Name an Action-packed Book or Series
Can’t have a post without mentioning my fav–Mask of Shadows & Ruin of Stars by Linsey Miller!! I can’t get enough of the action in these books, they’re so diverse and intense and the second one was an emotional train wreck.
New Releases – A New Release You Are Excited About
They’re not out yet, and won’t be for a while, but I’m really excited for I Wish You All the Best by Mason Deaver (also look at that fucking cover it kills me every time), Once and Future by Cori McCarthy and Amy Rose Capetta, and a special mention to By Grace and Blood by Linsey Miller (that won’t be released until 2020, *sobs*.)
And that’s that! I hope y’all enjoyed this tag, and feel free to tag yourself if you want to do this tag! I’m always up to reading tags from other peoples 🙂
