Because of this, I looked around and found Avalinah’s State of the ARC meme, and decided to join in to at least get this pile under control.
I will attempt to post one of these once a month.
My Current State of the ARC
This is . . . a lot harder than I was expecting. Last month, I had 60 ARCs to get caught up on. My irresponsible ass accepted more ARCs, including requesting them on NetGalley, and got more. Here are the updated graphs.
Sooo. My percentage of finished ARCs went up from 3% to 5%. However, you can also see that the NetGalley and Other categories went up. I got three more NG ARCs, but read one of them right away, hence why the finished ARCs went up, but the columns still went up.
Because I’m a genius.
Bricks Knocked Down
I will say that it was a good book, but the clashing narrative styles were very hard to follow, and I wasn’t a fan of the amount of religion included in this one. While The Frighteners was written by a Reverend, he was also saying he wouldn’t go into religion in this, which was weird, but oh well. That’s what my review will be for.
In the Works
I’m currently reading…three of them. I’ll discuss those later, but LISTEN. Recently, Avalinah released a…
BINGO CARD!!!!
I love bingo cards, especially for reading challenges. I love that they give you the freedom to read what you want, but still have guidelines for what to read for each block. Either way, here’s my card so far.
I am currently reading Stake Sauce by RoAnna Sylver and The Brilliant Death by Amy Rose Capetta. I just put them on the bingo card in anticipation of finishing them. In addition to those two, I’m also reading The Darkdeep by Ally Condie and Brendan Reichs. That one just doesn’t fit into any of the left over blocks, so I didn’t put it up there.
Let’s Get Motivated
Hilariously, I didn’t read any of the books that I put in this section in the previous State of the ARC post. Since I don’t want to just repeat the ones that I didn’t read, I’ll introduce y’all to another challenge that I’m doing right now: Queer Summer Reading. QSR encourages you to read four queer books in two months, but also has a bingo card that you can work with. I’ve been trying to combine these two challenges, and tried to make the queer ARCs I have match with the QSR bingo blocks as well as the State of the ARC bingo.
So here are three queer ARCs that I want to read:
I’ve heard amazing things about both The Summer of Jordi Perez (And the Best Burger in Los Angeles) by Amy Spalding and Baker Thief by Claudie Arseneault, and then I also heard that the main character in Kaelan Rhywiol’s Blood-Bound is gray aro and gray ace! I can’t wait to dive in.
