Queer Summer Reading Sign-Up & TBR

grab button for Queer Summer Reading 2018This year, I’ve been trying to get involved in reading challenges or groups. I’ve tried Lit CelebrAsian, a reading group focused on reading books by Asian authors, as well as State of the ARC/ARCs Anonymous to help with backlist ARCs.

Queer Summer Reading sounds like a simple, directly up-my-alley kind of reading challenge. This post will detail the challenge as well as how I intend to involve myself over the next two months.

Queer Summer Reading (here on out, QSR) is run on twitter (@queer_reads) by Laina and Luci, and also on Laina’s blog Laina Has Too Much Spare Time. I was messaged by my friend Mars about this, and decided that I was going to join up and read along with this challenge.

If you want to know more, check out Laina’s blog, especially the post that I linked above. The quick way to explain QSR is that it’s based on library summer reading challenges (I stopped participating in my local ones because all you got were “dragon dollars” and could only choose prizes when a library employee was staring at you). The main goal of QSR is to read four queer books over two months, July and August. That’s a really easy goal for some people, though, so Laina & Luci also made some bingo cards, which is what I’ll be focused on.

So, I think that all three are the same, just shuffled around, so I’ll probably just do the middle one. But the way I’m going to do it is that I’m going to just…read until I fill it up I guess? So I’ll play black-out bingo, have some fun, and read some queer shit.

Below, I’m going to type up what books I’m thinking of reading for each block, and if you have rec’s (for any of the spots, not just the ones with ?????), please put them in the comments! I’m always looking for more queer books, and recommendations.
