March Wrap-Up

This year, I’ve decided to start doing monthly wrap-ups. You can look forward to these posts on the first of every month, with the previous month being discussed.

Deciding what I wanted to include in these posts was hard, but in each of these, you’ll find: books I’ve read this month, posts published, as well as news (be it personal or public). Enjoy!

Books I’ve Read:

At the end of February, I was reading Piecing Me Together, Queerly Loving vol 1, and And She Was. I’m still reading Piecing Me Together and Queerly Loving, not because they are bad but because of a multitude of things like school, work, and other books. Aha.

I ended up DNF-ing And She Was, with it earning the title of most transphobic novel I’ve ever read. That was a ride. After that, I had to read Giovanni’s Room and Rubyfruit Jungle for a class, and those were both okay, but neither books I would have read otherwise. I delved into You Bring the Distant Near for the LitCelebrAsian book club, and I enjoyed that one.

For my AP literature class, I had to slog my way through The Metamorphosis and Othello, and wasn’t a fan of either of them. To make up for the blandness and general “meh”-ness of the rest, I reread my dear favorite Mask of Shadows, and then continued the series with the ARC I was sent of Ruin of Stars. MoS was just as amazing as I remembered, and RoS completely ruined me. I still can’t write my thoughts down on it, so I plan to reread it more thoroughly.

Despite being hard to follow up, I continued reading after RoS with Coffee Boy, The Lines We Cross, and The Atrocities. I loved Coffee Boy, and found both The Lines We Cross and The Atrocities to be lackluster.

I recently decided to stick to publishing reviews until I get my life under control, and that hasn’t happened recently. Misc. News:

Hm, I can’t really think of much.

I had my 18th birthday, and in the US that means I’m a legal adult! I don’t feel any different, other than the fact that I dread having to go off to college and leave my bookcase behind. I can’t say that I’m excited, except for the fact that I’m getting out of my old high school and this tiny town. Maybe, in college, I can be more of myself. Also maybe quit my shitty job.

I also finally read the sequel to one of my favorite books ever, Ruin of Stars, and I was not disappointed. In fact, I was blown out of the water. I cannot recommend Linsey Miller and her books enough, and, amazingly, she also got some more book deals!!! She has an upcoming book, titled By Grace and Blood, coming 2020, and a second, untitled, that doesn’t have a release date yet. I am so excited.

So. Excited.
