Excited for her new date, Grace dresses up to meet her at the mall. When her date stands her up, Grace goes shopping–and gets locked in the mall when it closes.
Why this book?: I really like M. Hollis’s stories 😀
I think, with this one, I’ve officially read everything that M. Hollis has published at the moment. I’ve greatly enjoyed their Lillac series, was a little disappointed with Ripped Pages, and then there’s this one. It’s a very short, very cute novelette that I was unsure I’d like. I’m not the biggest fan of fashion or make up, and I’m not even that into romance at all. The only reason I picked this up was because of the author. And, I do have to admit that I enjoyed this one more than I was expecting.
There were tiny comments and details that made me feel very connected to Grace, the MC, and I felt for her when she was stood up on her date. I also really enjoyed how she and Sol met as well as their relationship. It was very enjoyable, and a very quick read.
The ending was also very sweet, and I’m glad that it turned out that way. People get these types of stories for M/F all of the damn time, but it was refreshing to see it for a sapphic couple for once.
Final Rating: ★★★★☆
Overall?
It just felt like it was missing something. Maybe it needed more depth, in both characters and the setting. I really don’t know, but something was missing. Otherwise, I look forward to reading more of M. Hollis’s works!
Would I Recommend?
If you’re looking for a quick, cute read for sapphic needs, yes.

Meeting a girl on a dating app isn’t Grace Anderson’s idea of a fairy tale romance, but after a year of disappointment, a date is still a date. She puts on her best clothes from her crowded wardrobe and walks confidently into the mall, ready to fall in love.
But her date never turns up. Disenchanted and alone, Grace indulges in her favorite guilty pleasure… shopping. Trying not to piss off the staff right before the store closes, Grace hurries to try on a red dress she’s been dying to buy for a while.
What she doesn’t expect is the lights to go out when she’s still trying to decide what shoes would go best with the outfit.
And that she may not be the only girl left behind in the dark.
