14 Books I’ve Been Meaning to Read But Haven’t Gotten Around To

bookdeviant.wordpress.comWe all have those books that we’ve been meaning to read, but just haven’t gotten around to yet, right? You buy them the moment they came out, because you’ve been waiting for it forever, but then one thing leads to another and it’s kinda collected an inch layer of dust before you realize how long it’s been. Right? We’ve all been there.

So here’s 14 of those books for me, where I’ve had them sitting on my shelf for who-knows-how-long.

An Ember in the Ashes (An Ember in the Ashes, #1)An Ember in the Ashes – Sabaa Tahir
I actually wasn’t too sure of this one right away, but since it’s come out, I’ve been hearing wonderful things. I got a copy and everything! And it’s just sitting on my shelves. :/

Last Seen Leaving – Caleb Roehrig
I actually had no idea that this was diverse, but heeeey points to me for sniffing out diverse books without knowing they’re diverse. Someone take the points away, though, because it’s been on my shelves for more than a year.

A Boy Called Cin – Cecil Wilde
I’ve had the rec’d to me a few times by trusted friends/reviewers, and I bought it getting all ready to annotate and enjoy! But then it never happened. Thanks, past-Avery!

Chameleon Moon (Chameleon Moon, #1)Chameleon Moon – RoAnna Sylver
I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about this, so I don’t want to read it when I’m not into it. But I just need to read this sometime soon….when I can.

More Happy Than Not – Adam Silvera
I’ve heard so many amazing things about Silvera’s writing, and I’ve been meaning to read all of his novels. I own all of them, but just haven’t gotten around to wanting my heart ripped out.

City of Strife – Claudie Arseneault
This book is right up my alley, but the one time I tried reading, I wasn’t in the mood for a high fantasy 🙁 It sounds amazing, though, and I fell in love with one of the pairings that was introduced early on.

The Reader (Sea of Ink and Gold, #1)The Reader – Traci Chee
I read an excerpt from this one a while ago, and just recently got a copy because it sounded really good and a lot of people who I trust have recommended it.

Sorcerer to the Crown – Zen Cho
Diverse high fantasies are hard to come by, and I specially bought the black and gold version because I wanted the pretty version. But . . . yeah, it’s still sitting on my shelf to this day.

Wintersong – S. Jae-Jones
I haven’t heard much of this book, but I knew that it was based off a certain movie . . . Labyrinth? I’d never seen it, and wanted to wait to see the movie, but then I forgot because I don’t watch too many movies and I just never picked it up.

Labyrinth Lost (Brooklyn Brujas, #1)Labyrinth Lost – Zoriada Cordova
Same thing that I’ve been saying for this entire post-lmao-I’d heard really good things about this one, and have been meaning to read this for a really long time. I’ve just never gotten around to it.

When Dimple Met Rishi – Sandhya Menon
I’m not the biggest contemporary romance fan, but knowing the rep that was in this one, I knew I just had to try it out. Most diverse contemporary books that I’ve read, I’ve enjoyed, so I hoping that this one will be one of those.

Timekeeper – Tara Sim
I honestly have no idea why I haven’t read this one just yet. I know I’m going to love it. I know that I will adore every single character in this one. Someone slap me and tell me to read this one. Now.

The Hate U GiveThe Hate U Give – Angie Thomas
YEAH. I KNOW. Let me explain. I pre-ordered this beauty. But I also know that it was change everything. It will change how I read, how I look at other books. How I view my community. And I want to prepare myself for it.

Piecing Me Together – Renee Watson
I have had the rec’d as an amazing story as well as being very fat positive. And I think I need a story like that. Lots of people do. I just need to wait for the right moment to take that dive.

What are some books that you’ve been meaning to read but haven’t? Why? Waiting for the right moment, or just haven’t gotten around?
