Top Ten Tuesday Rewind!: Top Ten New Series I Want to Start

Design (3)

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly book blogging meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish!

This weeks topic:

This will be easy for me, considering I’ve only just started doing Top Ten Tuesdays! As I was going through their spreadsheet they made, I found one that was for “Top Ten NEW series I want to start”. Perfect!!

Furies of Calderon (Codex Alera, #1)1. Codex Alera by Jim Butcher

Not sure if this one really counts, considering I already read the first book, but I never got around to continuing this amazing series, despite loving it! The magic system is enticing, the world-building thorough–but no info dumps–and the characters are so life-like and relatable! I even own the majority of the series! What’s keeping me from continuing this series??

Captive Prince (Captive Prince, #1)2. Captive Prince Trilogy by C.S. Pacat

I’ve heard varying opinions on these books. A friend of mine recommended this book to me when I was looking for LGBT+ fantasy, plus that was around the time that I started hearing more about the book. Once again, I own the books, but haven’t gotten around to reading them. They’re short too, so what am I waiting for?

Mistborn (Mistborn, #1)3. Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson

I already know that I love Sanderson’s writing, and I already heard plenty of times how amazing this series is. Maybe it’s the hype that’s making me wait to start this series, maybe it’s that I’ve been reading everything except fantasy at the moment. Either way, just the concept behind this book sounds interesting to me. Most fantasies sound interesting to me, in all honesty, but the magic system? I think Mr. Sanderson has a gift with making magic systems, after seeing his work in Warbreaker. I’ll need to get started on this one soon.

A Natural History of Dragons (The Memoirs of Lady Trent #1)4. The Memoirs of Lady Trent by Marie Brennan

The book covers are basically my aesthetic, and adding to that that these books are specifically about dragons. I need more books with dragons. I need to read more books with dragons. I love dragons so much, but the fantasy books I read rarely have dragons in them, except A Song of Ice and Fire, by George R.R. Martin. Give me more dragons!!!

Outlander (Outlander, #1)5. Outlander by Diana Gabaldon

I’m normally not a big fan of romance, but I heard it’s a really good fantasy series with some time travel thrown in there. Being not too familiar with any time travel books, this probably isn’t the best to start, but I can’t wait to start it anyways.

Falling Kingdoms (Falling Kingdoms, #1)6. Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes

From what I’ve heard, this book is supposed to be kind of like a mix between A Game of Thrones and Ranger’s Apprentice?? At least from what a friend said. Either way, the concept looks amazing, a big portion of a series is already published, the covers are beautiful, and I already own the first book.

The Dragon's Path (The Dagger and the Coin, #1)7. The Dagger and the Coin by Daniel Abraham

All I know about the author is that he was a co-author to one of my most treasured series ever. This book looks interesting, and, once more, I own the first book, so when I do eventually start this series, I’ll be guaranteed a new favorite.

The Dinosaur Lords (The Dinosaur Lords, #1)8. The Dinosaur Lords by Victor Milan

I KNOW NOTHING ABOUT THIS BOOK BUT PEOPLE RIDE DINOSAURS INTO BATTLE HOW COULD THAT NOT BE AWESOME.

The Raven Boys (The Raven Cycle, #1)9. The Raven Cycle by Maggie Stiefvater

One of my closest friends fell in love with this series, and I’ve been hearing about it for a while now. The concept sounds so magical and interesting, that I bought the first book. I’m not sure how I’ll like this, but one way or another, I feel as if this book won’t but such a big flop for me. It might not end up being one of my favorites, but I’ll definitely like it.

Ship of Magic (Liveship Traders, #1)10. Liveship Traders by Robin Hobb

I just recently finished the first trilogy of the Realm of the Elderlings-verse, and this is the second installment. The universe is spread out in four trilogies and a quartet. I loved the first installment, and don’t know why I’ve taken so long to dive into this part. Oh, yea, that’s right-my friend borrowed the book from me and took almost four months to return it. Hopefully soon!

So, what are some series that you can’t wait to start, but haven’t been able to? I have so many more than just these, but these were the ones that came to my mind. Enlighten me!

  1. I love your list! Liveship Traders & Mistborn are just awesome! I am the same with the Codex Alera – read the first but never continued xD I think I have lost interest by now.
